Hot topic for the media for the past decade. But, especially in the past 3 years due to the current president. Donald Trump has capitalized on the fear of white privileged Americans who have hidden their racist tendencies even if they don't see it. Trump saw that America was changing into a more accepting country due to the Obama presidency. However, when elections came up he knew that he could capitalize off the fear of the white man to "Make America Great Again". But, how exactly did he do this? He did it by portraying anyone who wasn't white as a criminal and people who take advantage of federal benefits.
Notice: How I say white, not American because if you fit into the ideal white man stereotype then it's easier for you to transition here. However, for Latina/o's they have to face the presidents harsh lies that he blurs out into social media. Trump says degrading things about Latino's and how they are criminals, they bring drugs, and are gonna ruin this country with their violent culture. The media takes hold of the words he uses and blows them up for everyone to see around the world. American's aren't the only ones seeing the repercussion that these words hold. The words hold a great meaning behind them and with the Media exploiting them his words reach people with bad agendas. When trump uses the word illegal he is degrading the people who are undocumented and making them seem as if they are committing a crime and don't deserve to be here. Also, when he speaks of the migration that is occurring he one puts in his two sense when it comes to degrading the people who are undocumented. But, what about the DACA recipient that are attending school, who are working towards meaningful jobs to help America move forward economically. Trump refuses to let media see him compliment them, people, then it gives power to those he doesn't want to have power. But immigration is a topic that will always be in the media no matter the president. Only until there is a reform that allows for fairness and justice with undocumented immigrants will these
